EJ Hill is an artist whose practice incorporates painting, writing,
installation, and performance in ways that seek to elevate bodies and
amplify voices that have long been rendered invisible and inaudible by
oppressive social structures. Hill's new exhibition, "The Lily
League," imagines a network of universities that is a counterpoint to
the Ivy League. Founded on principles of excellence by way of radical
inclusion and fueled by the resilience of those most vulnerable to
institutional violence, Hill recasts the visual language of academic
heraldry to reckon with educational institutions that are not designed
for all. The Lily League is part pedagogical experiment, part
institutional critique, and a deliberate attempt to provide students a
foundation from which to launch their own creative and ambitious
ideas.
